Yoga Teacher (RYT-500), Owner Live Now Yoga Retreats
Matthew was introduced to yoga in 2005 when he experienced his first yoga class. He then started attending classes regularly which led to a deep appreciation for the physical practice. He was motivated to explore yoga teacher training to learn more about the yogic science, including asana, meditation, yoga philosophy, and pranayama. Matthew made two visits to India, first studying hatha yoga in Goa in 2012 and again in Rishikesh in 2016 completing his 500-hour YTT with Chandra Yoga International.
As his personal yoga practice evolved Matthew also gained a love for yin yoga. In 2017 he was thrilled to learn from Bernie Clark, one of the world's foremost authorities in yin yoga, completing a 50-hour yin yoga intensive teacher training course.
Matthew currently teaches yoga in Toronto, Ontario and has extensive experience leading vinyasa flow and yin yoga classes, acro yoga, and handstand workshops. His love for travel and adventure have led him to also teach yoga classes and workshops in Panama, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Trinidad and Tobago, and India.
Matthew is featured in the New York Times Best Seller 2,100 Asanas, The Complete Yoga Poses.
The words "Live Now" are a reminder to both be present and to live life to the fullest. This concept became an important consideration in Matthew's life when illness caused him to contemplate the reality that tomorrow isn't promised.
Live Now Yoga Retreats was born out of Matthew's desire to live with intention, travel the world, experience new cultures, and practice yoga. It is his dream, passion, and privilege to share these experiences with you!
